Lucas Huppert secures fifth place at the Joyride in Whistler.
Joyride is "the Super Bowl of the mountain bike world." The biggest and most traditional slopestyle course in the World Tour circuit and a crucial event where the best in the discipline compete for points towards the Crankworx FMBA Slopestyle World Championship and the Triple Crown of Slopestyle. Red Bull Joyride unites over 35,000 fans on site and millions of spectators worldwide and is the biggest stage in the sport.
Unfortunately, the weather does not quite play along with the most important event of the season. Due to strong winds and bad weather conditions, the competition was shortened to a single run.
Whistler is the place where slopestyle was born and developed into what it is today. So it's no surprise that the Red Bull Joyride is revered by athlete:s and fans alike. Held in the legendary Bone Yard at Whistler Bike Park, the event is THE event of the year for all slopestylers. One of the reasons the event is such a rarity is the sheer size of the Bone Yard. No videos or photos do it justice -- you have to see it with your own eyes. Especially when the slopestyle elite throw themselves over the mighty features with the craziest tricks and combos.
