Marco Kohler suffers another setback: season out after crash in Wengen
Swiss ski racer Marco Kohler had to cope with a serious fall during the World Cup downhill in Wengen, which led to a serious knee injury. The athlete from the B squad crashed on the Hannegg run and tore the anterior cruciate ligament, the inner meniscus and strained the inner ligament in his right knee.
The 26-year-old, who started the race with bib number 35, was immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Later that evening, Swiss-Ski confirmed the sobering diagnosis, which is yet another setback for Kohler. The next few days will be used to discuss the next steps with the Swiss-Ski medical team.
The injury in Wengen marks a tragic recurrence for Marco Kohler, who already had a serious fall four years ago on the Lauberhorn. After a long period of rehabilitation, he won the downhill classification in the European Cup last year and successfully established himself in the World Cup.
Unfortunately, the current injury will mean the premature end of the season for Marco Kohler.
